Laurel Suppan was presented a $1000 scholarship check at our Annual Meeting, Saturday, April 1, 2017. Laurel was our 4th Annual Scolarship winner for submitting an essay on ‘Why would you refer a friend for membership at Integrity Federal Credit Union?’ The essay is as follows:
‘For some people, a bank is just a place to save your money and nothing else, but I feel better about my experience knowing that I can trust the people working there. Because the Integrity Federal Credit Union is located only in Summit county, you know that your experience will be more personal and trusting. Part of their mission states their, “belief in the inherent worth of all people and, as such, acting with all in good faith and committed to unwavering integrity” and I fully believe they live up to their words. When you walk in the door, you are welcomed by great employees and community members. It is nice to know that you are not just another person the bank can take money from, but a valued member in a strong community.
Credit Unions in general have more benefits than using a banking chain. Since they are nonprofit institutions, they are able to offer things like higher interest rates on savings accounts and CD’s while offering lower rates on loans and credit cards. Other advantages they are able to offer are lower fees, customer focused banking, and more flexibility because they are smaller than normal banks and care more for their customers.
As for benefits specific to Integrity FCU, you can have ten different types of accounts including savings accounts, share certificates, club accounts, and IRAs. As a member, you would have access to Integrity FCU’s GreenPath Financial Wellness service, which provides free access to money management and financial education. GreenPath teaches you about things like budgeting tools for personal and family finances, personal money management, debt repayment, and avoiding bankruptcy, foreclosure and repossession. A big, and not so great, thing on everyone’s mind is death, and Integrity FCU can even help with that. They provide term life insurance; up to $150,000, and accidental death & dismemberment insurance; $1,000 at-no-cost-to-you. Because of their group purchasing power, you can also purchase from $10,000 to $300,000 of Voluntary AD&D Insurance.
Honestly, I just have really liked my time at Integrity FCU. All of their benefits are like bonuses to an already great, sharing community. I would suggest anyone in Summit County become a member.’
